Summary0020495: Moving straight on slopes adds sidewards downhill movement (extremely minor bug)
DescriptionReporter: bosli42

Very quirky game-engine bug that is not affecting any gameplay, but could be a tiny factor in causing bad client location updates / server location estimates, or player collision.

- stand on a slope / hill
- face diagonally to the max slope degree
- keep moving backwards and forward, and you will also slide downwards

The sidewards movement can easily be seen by where your character is compared to the ground texture and works in all 4 diagonal directions (upwards+downwards, left+right). I'm not sure if it happens while moving forward, while moving backwards, on both, or only when changing directions / receiving acceleration. It could be a side effect of the game / client checking for non-walkable slopes constantly? I have no idea, but it's weird and cannot be unseen once you notice it.

Hey,

could you provide a video about that?

You can see me align with trees, not using rmb to change camera and only using W+S for movement, sliding sideways.
On the tree higher up I weirdly move uphill and after realigning with a slightly different angle I slide down, so I guess it's not as simple as "always downhill".

As an interesting note: this seems to only happen on the world with smoothened slope surfaces, not on objects with a perfectly fixed slope like staircases.

Did you test this with uncapped frame-rate? Player movement is known to be wonky at very high FPS.
