Summary | 0022607: Rain of Fire Not Working as intended...? | ||||
Description | Tooltip says that it rains down fire on a spot for X seconds but thats actually not whats happening. Instead it seems to be snapshotting who is at that spot at the time it was cast and no matter where the people that were in the circle at the time of the initial cast move to, they take continous damage. Additionally the spell does not take into account if any new enemies enter the target circle during the cast which it should. | ||||
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Cast on a few people 2. Ask them to move out of the spell and watch the damage ticks still continue on them until the end of the spell channel 2nd check: 1. Cast in a spot and ask someone to run into where the rain of fire is being cast. 2. Watch as no damage is done to the people entering the cast area. | ||||

I'm also not convinced that its hitting people correctly. I've dropped it on a big group with no other BW's around and its maybe hit one or none of them. | |
I noticed exact the same behaviour on EngineerĀ“s Phosphorous shell. Maybe all of these spells are affected the same way. | |
I should add that prior to the big shakeup on abilities, this was all working correctly. | |
I can confirm this behaviour for Rain of Fire. | |
I can't confirm this for Phosphorous Shells, I've been playing a lot of engineer lately and the skill works as intended, with each tick doing damage only to people in the targeted area. | |
I tested Pit of Shades, Phosphorous Shells and Tzeentch's Firestorm and they all work properly, so the issue is isolated to Rain of Fire. | |
As for the "snapshotting" part. I noticed the same yesterday with a knight superpunting a Zealot who was doing Winds of Insanity. Eventhough the Zealot went airborn and landed into the backline of an Order warband the effect still persisted both where he initially stood and channeled Winds, but also Orderplayers in the back where he landed were getting pushes around by his winds. So this Snapshotting effect might be a thing in some ability code. Also as a side note, Channeled abilities are not getting interrupted when you get punted/pushed so I wonder if this is related to snapshotting in some way. I didnt make a bugreport as I couldnt find a way to reproduce this solo. |

Can confirm an easy step to reproduce this Rain of Fire bug: step1: Cast detaunt on a mob from 100ft to aggro it without damaing it. step2: Cast rain of fire on top of your self before the mob gets to you step3: as the mob enters the RoF area and you still channeling it, the mob is not taking damage as it wasnt in the initial circle. |
