Summary0022674: RDPS AOE non-stacking logic is very basic and ignores damage bonus
DescriptionNote: This probably applies to all non-stacking RDPS, but I have only observed this while leveling my engineer with Napalm Grenade and Phosphorus Shells.

When multiple non-stacking skills are cast in the same area, only one will actually do damage. The selection logic for which caster does the damage seems based only on the skill level of the ability, ignoring all ability damage increases, crit, etc. For example, an engineer with no ballistic skill, no crit, but maxed grenadier tree will be prioritized over an engineer with max ballistic skill, high crit but fewer points in grenadier.

Ideally the selection should be based on the highest damage one (e.g. calculate total damage bonus of all casters and pick the highest damage one, or some other formula involving crit chance too, etc).

It could even roll damage of all the channels per tick and pick the highest one, so that stacking AOE will give some effect since every caster has their own crit roll, giving a chance to increase the overall damage slightly.

After some further testing I'm not sure the original report is completely correct, though without telling what level other people have their skills at it's impossible to say for sure. As a leveling engi I had maxed grenadier and my Napalm was almost always overriding higher geared players. Now as a higher level but reduced points in grenadier I find my own Napalm overridden more frequently. For Phosphorus Shells it seems like the first caster always has priority but it's not easy to tell. It doesn't really feel consistent and it's no fun when your ability gets wasted this way, especially Phosphorus Shells where there's no obvious visual effect that one is already being cast in the area (maybe that's also a bug).

As far i see it, first served first used ^^. same with healing field from runi/zeal, who put it first have the effects, dont like it very much tbh, gtae is a key part of the game and abilities should stack. with that logic u should not allow to stack meele aoe too.
