Description | Reporter: Grock-r ### **Expected behavior and actual behavior:** "**Cleft in Twain**" in-game tooltip suggests that the ability damage increases by **0000003:0000008.4 per rank**/mastery, **0000016:0000053% Strength** scaling and **0000057:0000212% Weapon DPS** scaling. The actual numbers (tested on target dummies) show **8 per rank**, only **44% strength** scaling and **complete lack of weapon dps scaling**, which is unusual for melee ability. Numbers are not 100% accurate due to in-game rounding. _(someone else suggested that melee DoT abilities don't get wepDPS bonus, but as far as i know its only the case for DoT parts abilities that have initial direct hit (like Relentless Strike or Blindside), furthermore the fact that Tooltp shows abnormal WeaponDPS scale (usual is 150%) also suggests that the ability should benefit from WeaponDPS bonus)_ ### **Steps to reproduce the problem:** Pick Cleft in Twain in masteries, hit target dummies, count total damage(5 ticks) and compare to the tooltip. ### **Testing:** Spreadsheet with testing results and screenshots: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LGD5WMPXciM1uFwqNbEozH9AxzIG_kyDIWQJdIm9zck/edit?usp=sharing **Orange part** is tests on rank scaling, testing with 5([screenshot](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EvmG7QL4IBmSkoOZi96_D8tmb_0Eml63/view)) and 15([screenshot](https://drive.google.com/file/d/13Bx-SmPeHIvp56ebXY4D-arwWIgw73IK/view)) mastery points. Tooltip shows 84 damage increase from +10 ranks, while combat log shows only 80 (could be a rounding error maybe?) **Red part** is Strength scaling testing, performed by switching strength tactics, without changing any gear or weapons. At 280 strength difference tooltip shows 150 damage difference, while combat log results in only 125. **Blue part** is Weapon DPS scaling testing, performed by switching between two defensive weapons(no Strength or Melee power bonuses), one with 17.4 dps([screenshot](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e32a2NbEHZDp-mHtJ5pK8caC53YsrTHF/view)), another with 74 dps([screenshot](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lzU0AfPkufpjMXoaOsNTxY1_vcPuxo49/view)). Tooltip shows 120 more damage with the second weapon, while actual damage does not change at all. _**p.s.**_ Cleft in Twain is pretty underwhelming ability, very short duration, mediocre total damage and low tick damage(ticks every second) make it very unappealing, especially when its competitor - Inevitable Doom has higher total damage, higher tick damage, longer duration and also applies on-hit effects, not to mention it is AoE. Cleft in Twain could be an alternative to ID in single-target builds and give some viability to Giantslayer tree, but for that to happen the damage numbers should be upped to what the tooltip suggests(which is still slightly below Inevitable Doom) _**p.p.s.**_ make it deal all damage at the end of duration like WoP/BB pls :) | ||||

Commenter: Grock-r Adding 6th tick did not fix the issue, although it did make the ability _slightly_ more viable. The damage is still lower than tooltip under normal circumstances, because the ability is missing weapon dps scaling. However if you have high strength but use low wdps weapon you'll see that tooltip actually shows lower damage. Referring to my original post the actual str scaling was 0000013:0000044.6%, which is 0000003:0000008.92 for each tick, if you add 6th tick the total scaling would be 53.5% which aligns with my original results. Currently however the total STR scaling is about 0000016:0000055.7%([high str](https://i.imgur.com/VImr0Ms.jpg), [low str](https://i.imgur.com/ZqvjfIb.jpg)) In addition it seems that the base + rank growth damage is also slighly above the tooltip. 10 rank difference results in 96 actual damage increase, whereas the tooltip shows only 84 ([5 mastery](https://i.imgur.com/ZqvjfIb.jpg) vs [15 mastery](https://i.imgur.com/XiuQN1f.jpg)) Which results in tooltip sometimes showing lower damage than the real damage if you use very low dps weapon while having high rank and high strength. If you want to keep ability at 6 ticks i suggest changing values to 0000003:0000008.92% strength per tick(53.5% total), 0000011:0000035.3% weapon dps per tick(212% total) and 1.4 rank growth per tick(8.4 total). This should match the damage with the tooltip very closely. Personally i would prefer reverting it back to 5 ticks (as it would give higher tick damage and make ability more appealing, as well as more suited for burst combo) and setting values to 0000003:0000010.7% strength per tick, 0000012:0000042.4% weapon dps per tick and 1.68 rank damage growth per tick. (total numbers are the same since its what the tooltip shows) |
